Tuberculosis
What is Tuberculosis?
Symptoms of tuberculosis
Some people do not experience any symptoms of the infection, and the condition is known as latent TB. It can stay dormant for several years before turning into active tuberculosis. Mostly, it starts with coughing that lasts for over three weeks and difficulty breathing.
Common symptoms include:
- Intermittent cough lasting for more than three weeks
- Coughing
- Sudden weight loss
- Loss of appetite
- Fatigue
- Difficulty breathing
It is more common in people having pre-existing diseases like HIV and diabetes. The infection starts from the lungs and can further spread to different body parts like the kidney, brain, bone marrow, and spine. Symptoms vary based on the body organ affected.
Treatment of tuberculosis
Tuberculosis is not any other bacterial infection that can be treated by prescribing antibiotics for a couple of weeks. When you are diagnosed with TB, the treatment course spans from six to nine months. Your doctor will prescribe you different medications, and you must complete the course until any further changes in the course or checkups by the doctor.
Having any above-mentioned symptoms lately but don’t know whom to approach, make a visit to Dr M. V. Rao and get yourself diagnosed.
